We try to eat healthily, avoiding (most of the time) things which are not good for us, such as sugar, chips and cream. But how often do we stop to think about what we are putting onto our skin? One might know that a moisturiser has, for instance, neroli or lavender and possibly a sun factor included, but how many chemicals does in contain? Sometimes it's impossible to know what's in a moisturiser unless you are a qualified pharmacist who understands the fancy latin sounding names on the back of the cosmetic jar. However if you make your own facial masks you will know what's included. They are every bit as good, if not much better, than the very best salon mask.
Before applying your homemade facial masks make sure you give yourself a deep cleansing with a facial steam to open the pores up. Now you are ready to relax, remember to leave your mask on for at least 15 - 20 minutes.

Essential oils
When using essential oils in masks or on the skin, it's very important to use only 100% pure essential oils from health food shops. Avoid those labelled "perfume oil" or "fragrant oil" as they are synthetic and won't be of benefit ,in fact, they could harm your skin. Essential oils are immensely powerful, so use no more than two drops in a mask. (If you are pregnant or have health problems, check with a qualified aromatherapist before using essential oils).
